For a Handful of Feathers by Guy de la Valdene

Every man has his favorites, and this is undoubtedly one of mine. De la Valdene has written a book that cleverly weaves insight, reality, humor, and humility into a flowing diary of a year on his farm. In it he chronicles his activities, pursued with the well-being of the resident bobwhites in mind, while reflecting on the successes and frustrations inherent in the process. He delicately implants his growth as a hunter and subtly educates the reader without lecturing. I absolutely love the candor with which he speaks and the skill with which he writes.
